Support Our Bands
As a taxpayer in North Carolina, and especially Moore County, you know very well that our schools are under-funded. Though the Moore County Board of Education over the years has been good stewards of our tax dollars, there simply is not enough for everything that goes on in the schools.
Our band and instrumental music programs are no exception. They rely on organizations like the Union Pines Band Booster Parents and others to raise and contribute money to support the many programs and activities that are currently offered. This is exactly why the Union Pines Band Boosters exists.
There are several “categories” of needs within our school band and music program. Union Pines Band Boosters try to fill those needs whenever possible. We are always seeking donations to our programs in order to help them evolve and grow instead of shrinking.
While we have typically directed donations into our general fund, some like to give to a particular fund or cause based on their personal interests. This is why we are highlighting these “categories” for dedicated giving.
The main categories of donations are:

  • UP Band General Fund.
  • New or used instruments and instrument repair Fund.
  • Uniform Maintenance Fund.
  • Equipment Truck/Trailer Maintenance Fund.

THE “GENERAL FUND”

The number of day to day things that the Union Pines Band Boosters support for our kids and our band programs are too numerous to list here. From bottled water for the kids at practices, to sheet music, equipment purchases, student awards, the list goes on and on.
Our general fund is very important and is largely supported by our Concession Stands, Band Gear Sales, 50/50 Sales, and The Viking Classic. However, the need is always greater than the supply. If you would like to make a donation to our general fund, please email Donna Faulkner at donnawfaulkner@gmail.com or you can use the Band’s PayPal Page to donate.

NEW INSTRUMENTS / USED INSTRUMENTS and REPAIR FUND

As more Union Pines area children progress through the school system and want to play instruments, we need to have ample numbers of instruments available for them to play. Right now we are at a deficit. We cannot always count on parents being able to buy their children instruments, and we are grateful for those who can and do.
The band directors have a very detailed list of instrument needs – not wants. They are always in touch with the new and used instrument marketplace looking for the best deals possible for our programs.
The current school instruments do get used frequently and do require routine maintenance. Much of this must be shipped out to professionals, and again this costs money. To donate to the instrument fund, please Donna Faulkner at donnawfaulkner@gmail.com or you can use the Band’s PayPal Page to donate.

NEW UNIFORM FUND

The Band just ordered new uniforms to replace the previous 10 year old ones. They are maintained by parent volunteers who oversee the care, repair, cleaning and storage of the uniforms year round. The new uniforms cost over $42,700 this year. The funds were collected over the past years and saved until enough was raised to cover the new uniforms. The funds for maintaining and up keep are always in need. These monies come totally form privately raised funds. If you would like to donate to the uniform fund, please Donna Faulkner at donnawfaulkner@gmail.com or you can use the Band’s PayPal Page to donate.

INSTRUMENT TRUCK AND TRAILER FUND

The current band trailer that we use was modified for carrying the band’s delicate instruments and equipment around. This trailer belongs to the Union Pines Band Boosters and is not maintained with any other funds than those raised by the UP Band Boosters. The trailer requires a commercial type Tractor/Trailer truck to haul this trailer to all the events that the band participates in. Neither the School nor the Boosters own such a type of commercial truck so we rely on a Band Booster who uses his own truck to haul the trailer. The UP Band Boosters compensate the Driver/Owner for each of these trips and we also pay for upkeep of the trailer to ensure it is always in a safe operating condition. If you are interested in giving a gift to the truck fund, please Donna Faulkner at donnawfaulkner@gmail.com or you can use the Band’s PayPal Page to donate.
